Alongside its research and evaluation work, Civic Atlas builds radically simple tools that put impact monitoring — planning, tracking and reporting — into the hands of the people actually doing the work.

Founder, Civic Atlas
Kate is a Cape Town–based social researcher with nearly two decades of experience designing, managing and evaluating research on social change. Her work has ranged from leading the South African Reconciliation Barometer to advising non-profits, funders and corporate social investors on research, measurement and strategy.
Across this work, she has seen how often useful evidence gets buried in technical language, complicated processes and reports that are difficult to act on. Civic Atlas was created to offer a clearer approach: rigorous research, practical evaluation and simple tools that help organisations understand their work, improve it and communicate it well.
The Civic Atlas impact monitoring app is one part of that approach, designed to make basic planning, monitoring and reporting more accessible to smaller organisations and community groups.
